Before you pay the setup fee, we agree a customised project budget with you. It covers our fees, each recurring or usage cost, the assumptions behind it and the budget controls. Any increase to the budget needs your approval.
You own your tools and pay for them directly. Examples include Zero Human, Railway, Sentry and PostHog. Your budget sets which tools your project uses, so not every project needs every tool.
Onboarding
What is in place before the monthly fee begins, and how you accept it.
Onboarding targets two to four weeks from when we receive the access and inputs we need from you.
- A technical assessment of your product, code and infrastructure.
- Your environment set up and your AI engineering team in place.
- A prioritised roadmap.
- An agreed first milestone: a prototype, a tightly scoped MVP, or taking over an existing system.
We never promise an MVP in four weeks, whatever its size or complexity. If you have an existing system, we assess it before we commit to take it over.
If plans change
If our estimate overruns, we finish the agreed scope with no extra setup fee, and the monthly fee waits until you accept onboarding.
If you delay access, inputs or decisions, the timeline pauses until they arrive.
If the scope changes, we agree the change with you before work continues.
Acceptance
Acceptance follows a checklist written into your proposal for your project. It covers:
- The first milestone, demonstrated.
- Accounts and access that you own.
- Your AI engineering team, operating.
- A documented roadmap.
- Support readiness.
You have five business days to flag any unmet criteria. After that, onboarding is accepted. New requests join the ongoing roadmap.

What the monthly fee keeps paying for once you accept onboarding, and what stays your job.
A named fractional CTO, backed by JuicyLlama founder oversight, is accountable for your technical strategy, architecture, technical decisions and delivery oversight.
Your weekly rhythm
- A weekly meeting with your fractional CTO.
- Asynchronous support between meetings.

As the founder, you still own and decide:

- Demand validation.
- Commercial decisions.
- Final product priorities.
Your fractional CTO runs an AI engineering team configured for your product. It works from your product context and backlog, with agreed workflows and access controls.
Output follows the AI budget you agree with us, not a fixed number of features.
The service covers one product and one prioritised roadmap. Further products, added complexity or new commitments need a scope and price we both agree. Nothing increases automatically.
If your CTO changes, the handover is managed: you get advance notice, an introduction to your new CTO and documentation of your product and its decisions.
