The workflow automation we delivered:
We developed an automation solution that streamlines our client’s weekly inventory reporting and improves their forecasting accuracy using the following tools:* N8N as the integration platform to connect Shopify and Google Sheets
* Google Sheets for data analysis and reporting
* Custom formulas in Google Sheets to calculate days' worth of stock and traffic light status
* Slack for real-time notifications and updates
* ShipBob for automated restocking triggers
Here’s how it works:
1. Inventory Data Integration: Using N8N, we set up a connection between Shopify and Google Sheets, allowing us to pull current inventory levels and sales data from Shopify into a Google Sheets report.
2. Data Analysis and Reporting: We created custom formulas in Google Sheets that combine inventory levels with sales performance to calculate how many days' worth of stock is available. These formulas also determine the traffic light status for each product (green, yellow, or red) based on order timeframes.
3. Notification System: We set up a Slack channel where our automation posts weekly stock inventory updates. If a product's inventory level falls below a certain threshold, an alert is sent via Slack so our client can take action to restock.
4. Automated Restocking: We also integrated ShipBob with our Slack notifications to trigger automated restocking when necessary.
